Tempo Marked on Piano Rolls
By Jerry F. Bacon

Hello to all, How nice it was to be reminded of my old dear
alma mater, Victor Sylvester School of Strict Tempo Ballroom Dancing.
I remember it well; we had some fine dance bands come as guests:
Guy Lombardo, Jan Garber, Shep Fields, and Victor Sims' Tic-Tok Rhythm.
We took a trip as a group to Blackpool, England, to hear the foremost
exponent of Absolute Strict Tempo playing and that was Reginald Dixon
who played the Wurlitzer at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.

A neat addition which could be placed under the tempo lever would be
a slow-turning screw that could slowly move the tempo lever to the left
as the roll played thereby keeping the tempo at the same speed. This
would be like the repeat function on the very early Ampicos.

Ah, music! Everyone has different ideas; I guess that's what makes the
world go around.
