Sankyo Shoji Musical Boxes & Movements
By Matthew Caulfield

Sankyo Shoji is "down but not out."

Two days ago I mentioned the disappearance of Sankyo's music box and
musical movement web site and asked for information about that. Today
I received this reply from Taizou Murakami, who went right to the top
to find the answer:

This morning I called Mr. Inoue, the president of Sankyo Shoji, and
asked about the mysterious web site of Sankyo America. He said
Sankyo America was negotiating with the [music] copyright association
now, so they had closed their web site of music movements including
tune lists. He told me that the web site would be back soon.

  When? He didn't know it.

I said [to] him that it would be better to write "now under
reconstruction, sorry" on their empty pages of music. "Yes, I will
tell it to them", Mr. Inoue answered.

I will write you when I get another news.

My thanks to MBSI member Taizou for going the extra mile and phoning
the president of Sankyo Shoji. And it is good to know that Sankyo,
with its prodigious supply of stock tunes, is not gone forever.
Apparently only the English version of the web site is affected. If
you can read Japanese you may still be able to search the Sankyo music
web site and its tune list.
