Hello MMD.  For the past couple of months I've been working away,
tidying up my 65-note roll collection.  Many of the box labels have
been reduced to a lace-like state by untold generations of silverfish
busily chewing away.  I've been soaking off the remains of these labels
before gluing on repro ones, to give the silverfish a new start.

What has impressed me is that in many cases the remains of one or two
previous labels are to be found under the top one.  The boxes are
almost always Aeolian boxes.

Obviously Aeolian regularly recycled their boxes; I suspect that this
was because these boxes, with their wooden inserts to support the pins
of the 65-note roll, cost a significant fraction of the all-up cost of
roll and box, making re-using them worthwhile.
