1902 Cecilian Farrand Push-up Player

I am looking for some assistance. My grandfather who has a love for
anything mechanical. Has come into possession of a 1902 Farrand
Cecilian push up player. The unit was patented in November 13, 1900,
this particular model being produced 1/31/1902.

He is fascinated by this and I have been drawn into his quest for more
information. It was found in the back room of a hardware store in a
small town in the middle of no where. Probably being imported there
during the mineral rushes into a local saloon.

We have no rolls for it and are seeking any and all information which
anyone might be willing to provide including whether or not he should
start fiddling with it in an attempt to restore or is it best left to
a professional. I am amazed because I have "googled" this and come
up with very little.

Thank you in advance for any information.

Regards,
Brandy Sutton, and my grandfather, William
