To my way of thinking, the future of mechanical music is assured.
The question is simply how that future is to be perpetuated, molded
and enhanced.

Granted, the economics of buying high quality items of mechanical
music have changed.  However, those who make a concerted effort to
educate themselves about what and how to buy can still assemble a
quality collection with a reasonable amount of investment.
