Music Rolls for Goeckel Crank Organ
By Ed Schmidt

About 15 years ago Martin Goeckel and someone from the New York area
visited my shop to investigate the possibility of punching rolls for
the 26-note Goeckel crank organ. The gentleman from New York was
going to import the machines. At the time, I didn't have a machine
to test the rolls on and I was unsure of the volume of rolls that
I could sell. I never heard much about the sale of the instruments
in the USA and nothing developed on producing rolls.

A few years later I acquired a 26-note Goeckel from Hal O'Rourke.
It was a kit version of the Goeckel that Hal constructed while he was
in Germany. I have made spools for the rolls, but have never gotten
around to arranging or having someone arrange rolls.

I would be interested in determining the number of 26-note Goeckels
that are in the USA and the interest there is in having new rolls for
the machine.
