The Future of Mechanical Music

I have to agree with Bruce Grimes.  While I'm a totally wired
techno-gadget freak, paper rolls are the only things that will ever
play my pianos.  However, my belief is that we need to use all the
technology we have at our disposal to promote the hobby, preserve
recordings and, hopefully soon, cut rolls economically in small
batches.

I recall Gene Gerety's posting in April, 2002, regarding this.  His
association with the roll scanning community left me with some hope.
Gene did a good job summarizing the arguments made by me and others
over the years.  Unfortunately, we've yet to see the results.  Where
are the rolls, Gene?
