Treating Brittle Music Roll Paper: Cycloexylamine
By Kim Bunker

I just spoke to my bookbinder friend and he said the chemical he
described to me can be purchased from a chemical supply house. It
is called cycloexylamine; it is mustard yellow and in powder form.
Usually will be sold in paper sleeves.

Once it's exposed to oxygen this chemical dissipates very quickly, so
always keep it in an airtight container (a large wide-mouth milk jar)
and when using, put 6 or 8 bags in a 55-gallon black trash bag with 20
or so rolls loosened on the spool and out of their boxes. Put the
boxes in as well, then seal up the bag for two to three weeks. This
should do the job.

Hope this helps in your quest.
Sincerely
Kim Bunker
