Ray Siou
By Ellsworth Johnson

I notice several posts mentioning Ray Siou and it jogged some old
memories for me from more than 30 years ago.

Back in the very early 1970s I imported from Leonard Gymonprez of
Holland a small container load of 10 various European machines;
I recall selling one or more of them as-is to Ray Siou. I have
to date never learned what were the disposition of the machines he
purchased from me. If anyone knows anything about this subject let
me know -- just curiosity, since I was out of the hobby for many years
beginning in 1974.

I started traveling in my motor home for 25 years and called on and met
numerous people that I had done biz with, like Joseph Tushinsky of Sony
Superscope and Dave Bowers when he was living in Beverly Hills, Calif.,
and one man I will hardly ever forget down in Texas. I had sold him an
unrestored Duo-Art Steinway grand in a painted casework. I had been
thinking of a 'Kemtone' paint. When I called on him and saw the piano
I had brokered to him, I said, "I will refund your money right now!"
It was a beautiful artwork oil painting job.
