Duo-Art Fan Accordion System
By Paddy Handscombe

In my recent article in 040914 MMDigest on the number of Duo-Art
expression levels I said, "It's notable that on Duo-Arts which
don't have this type of spill (some in which it has been disabled
and some of the newer book-accordion designs) the rolls sound
diffident and flat..."

I had in mind mainly the standard Duo-Arts here in the UK whose lazy
owners have blocked their expression box spills up in an effort to
maintain vacuum!

I'm happy to point out that I've always believed that the fan
(book-accordion) system is in principle a superior mechanical design,
being very similar to the later original Welte mechanism which works
superbly.
