There are several connections between coins and the instruments
they operate.  Mention the name of leading mechanical music authority
Q. David Bowers to any numismatist and watch their awed reaction.
Similarly Ken Goldman and the late Jerry Cohen -- numismatists all.
David wrote a book connecting the nickels and the odeons.

As for me, I am ignorant.  Coins go into parking meters and the Violano.
