Visiting Sydney, Australia
By Marc Sachnoff

Hello All, I have been lurking in the shadows for a while, but I would
like to ask our fellow MMD'ers about suggestions for mechanical music
in Sydney, Australia. The family is making its trip of a lifetime to
Down Under and we have about four days to run around Sydney and
environs before heading off to the Great Barrier Reef (where mechanical
music is less likely to be found).

I have searched the MMD Archives and found two interesting entries: one
Is the Powerhouse Museum of Science and Design and the other is Craig
Robson's private museum of Antique Music, where I believe the grand
organ "Taj Mahal" is installed. Does anyone have any other suggestions
regarding Sydney sights of interest to an enthusiast of mechanical
music, vintage transportation (trains, cars, planes) and antique clocks
and watches? Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Is there a big outdoor antique market like London's Portobello Road, or
our Rose Bowl Flea Market here in Los Angeles? Also, is there a great
jazz club where traditional jazz is celebrated?

I'll be in other cities like Brisbane and Auckland, NZ, but not really
long enough to get away from the family and pursue my personal passions
so I'm specifically looking for ideas regarding Sydney.

Thanks!
Marc Sachnoff
