There is a way of removing the corrosion chemically with common products.
Buy the cheapest white vinegar you can get and a box of table salt.
Saturate the vinegar with salt. Put your screws in the solution.  You
can make this up in a small cup size batch or fill a tall garbage pail
for larger parts.

The time necessary depends on the corrosion but varies from a couple of
hours to a day or so. It helps to put the parts in a basket tied to a
string if you use a bucket bath. In general no polishing is necessary
after this treatment.

As always, try a couple of screws before dumping the entire batch into
the stuff.
