Hi All,  According to the 1996 American Piano Supply Co. parts catalog,
SOBO Glue was:

  "The King of All Adhesives".  The original white liquid resin glue.
  Chemically pure - no fillers added.  Sobo is slightly more expensive
  than many white glues that appear similar, but for tensile strength
  and flexibility it is unexcelled.  It is quick-drying, non-inflammable
  and non-toxic.  For gluing felt, leather, ivory, Ivorine, wood or
  paper.  Excellent for gluing rubberized cloth in player work.

This is just one more example of how an industry leader leads an
industry astray.  And I'll readily admit that I was one rebuilder who
was led astray by claims such as the one above.

Fortunately, the MMD came along and we all started learning about the
horrors of white resin-based glues.  But just think of the hundreds of
technicians and rebuilders who have never heard of the MMD, or benefited
from the vast exchanges of information that all of us have almost come
to take for granted.

Having purchased virtually all of my piano supplies from APSCO from the
very early 70's until they were bought out by Schaff, I know that SOBO
glue has been around for a long time.  I've had the displeasure of
re-rebuilding devices that I rebuilt in my early years.  When that
happens, I take a long, deep breath and then forge on.

When dealing with white glues, I find that extreme heat and extreme
cold are my best friends.
