Overseas Shipping Cost Scam
By Vic Searle

I've been reading the correspondence of overseas shipping and
I'd like to warn you of a scam that has caught several eBay buyers.

I bid on some stuff from a guy in Missouri and was high bidder.
I got a message that he would not ship to Japan. A week or so later,
I got another message asking when I would pay the $227.00 for the
items. Then another request for $180 to cover shipping costs and
would I sent new checks.

I did, and I duly received the merchandise, but when I got my bank
statement, he had cashed all three checks to the tune of $800 or so.
I was never able to get a refund so I filed a claim with eBay's claim
department only to be told that they would not handle and matters
concerning overseas shipments.

I have heard from two other persons that they met the same fate.
I advise MMD readers to watch out for any notices of bouncing checks.
