"Schnitzelbank" Humorous Song
By Ray Bauer

Ah, such memories growing up singing "Schnitzelbank". It was almost
the first German I learned. As stated by Conrad Bladey, breweries did
give out sheets with the music and words on it. Evansville, Indiana,
the German-American town near where I grew up, had three breweries
during the 1950s. My parent's restaurant served beer from all of them
with place mats of "Schnitzelbank" to place your bottled beer on.

Below is a web site from a Jasper, Indiana, restaurant containing
Schnitzelbank. The site is suitable for printing with the music to
listen to: http://www.schnitzelbank.com/poster.htm

Enjoy,
Ray Bauer

[ The restaurant's poster displays the same droll woodcut
[ illustrations as the QRS piano roll and also a poster published
[ by Mader's German Restaurant of Milwaukee that was later copied
[ many times by others. The origin of the poster art is still
 [ unknown. -- Robbie
