Seek North Tonawanda Pianolin Music Rolls
By Brian Smith

Don, thanks for the update on music roll sources. I would like to put
in another plea for North Tonawanda Pianolin rolls. I would really
like to see original Pianolin rolls loaned for a genuine recut of North
Tonawanda arrangements, not Wurlitzer Pianino rolls which are totally
different.

Many times you here people comparing Pianino rolls to Pianolin rolls.
About the only thing these two rolls have in common is the fact they
have 44 playing notes. Different arrangers, different sound.

For some reason, nobody wants to do a recutting project of Pianolin
rolls. Maybe collectors consider 44-note pianos to be inferior to
their 88-note counterparts? To me, the style of arranging is the
important thing here. Sometimes you can't even tell you're listening
to a 44-note vs. 65-note arrangement! It's how good the music is.

Anyway, just another plea for a Pianolin project. Maybe I'll have to
do it myself someday!

Cheers and Happy New Year!
