Hurdy-Gurdy in the Movies
By Duaine Hechler

I was watching a Spencer Tracy movie called "Captains Courageous"
(1937) and saw a violin looking hurdy-gurdy. It looked like a violin
with a block over the strings with push buttons and it had a crank on
the big end. It sounded like there was something constantly vibrating
the strings. Any ideas on pictures or more info?

Thanks,
