Those reading MMD that are interested in MIDI might like to know that 
a reasonably priced wireless MIDI system called Midair is now available
for $150 at  http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MidAir-main.html 
(Dealers can have it available for a lot less, however.)

The system is comprised of a portable transmitter and receiver, which
allows you to wirelessly transmit data from any device that outputs
MIDI data.  You can also use multiple MidAir systems in the same
environment.  The wireless range is a lttle low at 30 feet but in early
testing it seems to work well and it should eliminate a lot of wires
running around my music room.
