Scanning Ampico Rolls
By Walter Tenten

I am really surprised to read that Paul Manganaro is encouraging the
MMD readers "to send more Ampico rolls to Spencer in order for the
music to be saved for the future". This type of future is specified
some lines earlier as one where files are not shared with others.

Now let me publish an alternate way of saving the music on piano rolls.
On the IAMMP Web page (http://www.iammp.org/index.php) there are at
least 10 (ten) very active people with scanners, like that mentioned
by Paul Manganaro, who present the results of their work for public
access. Their roll archive is growing from day to day and actually
contains 4194 titles. On his own web page Terry Smythe, who is also
contributing to the IAMMP collaboration, has come up to approximately
4967 titles:

So if you are not able or willing to scan your rolls by yourself, send
them to one of these people.
