I am currently working on an Aeolian 65-note push-up player.  The
wind motor is the short 3-section type where each section has a
vertical central moving board between the V-shaped main block.

The question is, should these be covered with cloth only, or should
there be a section of leather at the bottom, covering the hinge area?
If the latter, does the cloth stop just before the hinge or go right
to the bottom?

The cloth I have stripped off is not original and covered to the
bottom, but then had a layer of thickish white leather over the bottom
two inches (this was all too thick and tight preventing the motor from
operating properly).  I have another similar push-up which just has
cloth, but that isn't original either.  I know the tall "rocking"
motors used on Aeolian uprights used pouch leather over the central
hinge section, so I wondered if they used a similar approach on the
push-up motor.
