Rubber Tubing Headache
By Bill Chapman

While I am using a good grade of hot hide glue, it still gives off
an odor that is a bit smelly. But on to the headache. When I was
restoring the Weber grand I was under the piano removing the dried out
rubber tubing. I kept getting headaches and irritated eyes and nose.

One morning the sun was shining at such an angle that it hit under the
piano as I worked. As I snapped off the old tubing the sun revealed
a cloud of tiny glistening particles that drifted down. Who knows what
compounds were in that old organic material. To finish the job I wore
eye protection and a breathing mask which eliminated the bothersome
headaches.
