Preventing Theft of eBay Images
By Bill Mackin

The eBay notice for a barrel organ at the end of the last digest got
me thinking. I saw six pictures of a barrel organ on the listing,
with no 'watermarks' on the picture. I don't know how to add the
'watermark' type of lettering on a picture, but a program as simple
as MS Paint has a feature whereby you can put solid-color text on
your pictures.

I'm thinking that if the original sellers of expensive items would
simply paste their eBay ID right across the center of each picture
(Seller ID: ME, for example), it would prevent the scam artists from
stealing the picture and posting it on eBay six months down the line,
as if it were their own. It would have to be across the middle so
they'd be unable to erase it and restore the picture underneath.
Just a suggestion.
