Besides being my first post here (I've been reading MMD for a while),
I just purchased my first (of the larger variety) mechanical music
instrument, an Ampico B spinet.  Now, being quite excited about finally
having my own piano, and an Ampico, I find myself pacing back and forth
wondering when it will arrive at my house so I can see it in person.

I've always loved mechanical music devices, and have seen quite
a few, from my father's Chickering baby grand Ampico B -- which I would
occasionally turn on and duck under the drawer to see if I could see
what was happening -- to the large multi-instrument machines I've seen,
and wanted to duck under them and see how they all worked.

I'm curious to hear what others remember about their first mechanical
music instrument, so please share.
