Source of New Slotted Wood Screws
By Jurgen Goering

Sourcing "real" wood screws has indeed become more difficult these
days. Pan-head sheet metal screws and other modern "improved" versions
of the old idea seem to have displaced the normal screws that were once
ubiquitous. I have friends who are always on the lookout for new-old-
stock screws from liquidation sales of old hardware stores, etc. Plain
steel screws themselves have almost become collectible!

That said, one can still find decent nickel-plated wood screws of cer-
tain sizes. I get mine from Germany, where it seems the screw memory
is longer lasting than in North America. I have access to round-head
and oval-head slotted screws for piano work. They are not featured on
my website, but feel free to email me what you are looking for.
