Zimmermann Player Piano
By Francoise Dussour

Re: John Farmer's posting about the Zimmermann player piano in the
070929 MMD.

The Zimmermann player piano can be played in two different ways: with
the keyboard like a normal piano, and with the Hupfeld cardboard music
system, located under the keyboard in a sort of drawer.

The cardboard music system can be run either manually, by a crank at
the right of the drawer, or electrically by a motor with accumulator.

The original large, thick music cardboards are very typical of the
Hupfeld system. [Hupfeld bought out Zimmermann in 1926.] The yel-
low/brown cards are coated with a varnish.

Best regards from France,
Francoise Dussour
