Perforating Original Piano Rolls
By Bob Billings

Ethan Rose asked how to get his original compositions made into
piano rolls, and if it can be done from MIDI files. Folks who do
perforating can work from MIDI files, so that part is easy. A caveat:
a piano roll will not sound the same as a MIDI file played through
a synthesizer, as the synthesizer responds instantly but the player
piano has time lags.

Those interested in perforating their own compositions might be
interested in contacting a group of composers making new music for
the player piano. Their group is called "player piano project", and
they have a private wiki that can be joined by invitation. Contact
Veronika Krausas at krausas@yahoo.com for more information.
