Mills Violano With Cracked Harp Plate
By Kim Bunker

We have successfully repaired broken cast iron plates in the past, in-
cluding Mills Violano plates, using nickel as the braising material.
Plates originally made from cast iron injected into wet sand-cast molds
are quite brittle.

The reason for using nickel instead of ordinary braising rod is that
nickel has some flex to it and is a softer metal then braising steel.
This is a proven method that has worked throughout industry for many
years.
