Harrington's New Tone Air Calliope
By John Fowler

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

We have a Harrington's New Tone Air Calliope, Model N-101. We have
been told it was manufactured around 1898. The plate on the side of
the calliope says it was manufactured in Kansas City, Mo. We are
searching for information regarding this calliope.

John Fowler

[Although Mr. Fowler said, in response to an inquiry, that his cal-
[liope is not self-playing, according to the Bowers Encyclopedia, p.
[838, Harrington made two roll-playing calliopes, the Model A (43
[brass pipes) and the Model B (53 brass pipes). Both played the A-
[roll. There is no mention of a Model N-101.
[Harrington, located at 706 Wyandotte Street, Kansas City, Mo., was
[reorganized as the National Calliope Corporation, which continued to
[manufacture the Model A and Model B, the latter accounting for 90%
  [of sales.
