Record Price Paid for 88-note Roll
By Robert Perry

Hi all, As a longtime eBay bidder and watcher, I thought this
was interesting enough to comment on. A single 88-note roll
fetched the highest price I've seen when it closed yesterday at
405 U.S. dollars.

The roll in question was a clean original copy of Kimball #6154,
'King Of Ragtime - Medley Overture', featuring Temptation Rag,
Cannonball Rag, Powder Rag, Maple Leaf Rag, Frog's Legs Rag and
Hilarity Rag and arranged by Florence Sanger (who would later become
one of the Columbia/Capitol roll greats) using her 'F. W. Regnas'
pseudonym.

It's been recut before, so I was surprised it fetched that much.
I've seen original rolls played by Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton
go for far less than this! The eBay item number is 230195661767,
for those who'd like to view it.

Regards,
Robert Perry
