Music Rolls at New York Museum of Transportation
By Matthew Caulfield

Last week, when I was browsing the online archives of the New York
Museum of Transportation ( http://nymtmuseum.org ) in connection with
getting pictures of Seabreeze Amusement Park for the park's archives,
I stumbled across this odd entry: "Twenty five calliope music rolls
by the Clark Orchestra Roll Co. unless specified otherwise."

While it is not odd for the museum's archives to have pictures of
Seabreeze Park, because the park was owned by the local trolley (later
bus) company until George W. Long bought it in 1946, it seems odd that
the museum has any music rolls in its collection.

If you go to the museum's Archives page and type in "calliope" into the
keyword box, you will find that short entry I have quoted above, and
below it a list of 200 tune titles which in some way relate to that
entry.

I am simply calling this resource to the attention of MMDers who
collect or have interest in Clark rolls or calliope rolls, because they
are well hidden in a place that few people will ever hit upon.
