I was under the impression that this tuning pin locking system was
used in pianos with the 'Wertheim' name.  It was an Aussie invention
and was used for those pianos that went to the hot arid areas of
Australia where there is no sweat even under the armpits.  The system
was reputedly very satisfactory..
