Much of the talk on MMD is about rolls.  But I am new to that part of
the game.  I see there are many folks interested in roll copying and
techniques.  Me too.  But if I were to get into it, I would want the
product to be more durable than the hundred crumbling rolls in my
closet.

Waterproofed meat wrapper paper, or the Tyvec-like material used in
some envelopes comes to mind.  Is using better paper heresy?  Are people
using the old type paper?  Or acid free paper?  Plasticised paper?
Seems the effort of duplication should dwarf the paper cost.  Comments?

 [ Twenty-five years ago the firms making music rolls could choose
 [ among several suppliers of suitable paper, but no longer.  Only one
 [ paper firm remains who will make the special paper needed for piano
 [ rolls.  Once each year the salesman asks Play-Rite and QRS how much
 [ paper of what width they want to buy.  I believe the minimum amount
 [ to order is several tons, so everybody in North America uses the
 [ same paper nowadays.  (Coin piano rolls might be made of different
