Early Ampico A With Piston Crescendo Mechanism
By Charles Moen

I have an upright Haines Bros. Stoddard Ampico A, ser. no. 57524.
It is unlike any other Ampico I've seen. The crescendo mechanisms
operate with a piston in a cylinder which opens and closes to provide
different levels. The pump is not at all like the later Ampicos.

I have read somewhere that very early Ampicos were recalled by the
factory and replaced with newer models. I would much appreciate any
info from the many knowledgeable people that participate in our Digest.

Thank you,
Charles Moen
