FS: Aeolian Player Pipe Organ in California
By Richard Zipf

For sale: Aeolian 1345, a 3/40 player pipe organ, installed (1916)
in the John Spreckels mansion in Coronado, California. Current
location is my home in Carmichael, Calif. (a Sacramento suburb).

Within the chests I completely re-leathered all the mechanisms
(pouches, pneumatics, valve facings) and repaired felt damage to
the valves. I also:
- re-leathered all the pouches in the coupler stack,
- repaired the considerable moisture damage and repainted the chests,
- repaired, cleaned, and re-shellacked the pipes,
- de-rusted and painted steel parts,
- rebuilt and repainted the supporting structure and ducts.

I.e., I not only restored the organ to functional condition, but I
attempted to do so in a way which would maximize its future life span.

Within the organ console is a roll player which can play the smaller
Aeolian pipe organ rolls (I have more than 100 such rolls). Included
in the sale is a separate Duo-Art roll player, which is in good,
unrestored condition and which is capable of playing the larger Aeolian
pipe organ rolls. I also installed a Devtronix MIDI interface to the
organ and have enjoyed playing the organ from a computer sequencer.

At age 70, I feel it is time to part company with the organ, rather
than leave this potentially difficult responsibility to my heirs.
I am asking $130,000 for this museum-quality instrument but am open
to negotiation. Serious inquiries only.
