Piano Roll Production Using Desktop Vinyl Cutter
By Ian Sanderson

A few hundred dollars will buy a computer controlled vinyl cutter,
such as the Redsail (RS450C). These machines work something like
a computer printer and are used for precision cutting of vinyl stickers
for sign writing and decal making purposes. They work with media of
"any length". Has anyone thought about adapting a vinyl cutter for
piano roll production?

If the cutter is capable of cutting holes small enough, it seems
a good option for home or portable production. Of course, there are
the problems: removing the "chads", software interface and setting up
feed and take-up spools. Is that many holes just too much for this
kind of machine? Has anyone here had any experience with them?

Regards,
Ian Sanderson
