Player Piano Parts Makers List at Player-Care
By John A. Tuttle

Hi All, This is basically a follow-up to the posting I submitted a few
weeks ago with regards to the closing of Player Piano Company (PPCo).
Judging by the small number of responses I received, it doesn't appear
that the demise of PPCo will have much of an impact on the professional
segment of the player piano industry. However, I don't believe the
same can be said about the 'public segment' of the industry.

Here's my logic. Most professional rebuilders have the capability
to make just about everything they need to stay in business. For them,
Player Piano Company was, in a word, convenient. In many cases, it
was just easier to buy a set of parts than it was to make them from
scratch.

Naturally, there are certain parts that aren't so easy to fabricate,
but most of us have been able to find what we need in other industries.
On the other side of the coin, the general public, being quite a bit
less familiar with what works and what doesn't work, won't have quick
access to the specialized parts the PPCo sold.

However, I'm pleased to say that half a dozen people came forward,
within the past couple of weeks, and added their names to the listing
of specialized parts makers that now resides at Player-Care.com. So,
both the public and the industry have a place to turn if they need to
have special parts or assemblies manufactured. See
