Suction Box for Late Aeolian Player Pianos
By Rich Ingram

I have worked on several 1970s Aeolian players and most have
needed a new suction box (because of a weak motor). Does anyone
have experience with these players? They have a plastic valve unit
on top of the suction box that I am assuming is where the problem is
(in addition to weak suction). Most available suction boxes have
only one hose outlet, but the Aeolian needs several.

In the past I have just drilled a hole in the large tube coming out
of the top of the suction box and inserted the small hose in it (yes,
I know it is not the best way). I hope there is someone out there
that has repaired several of these and knows the best way to do it.

Thanks, Rich Ingram
