When did it start for you?

The topic 'Women in Mechanical Music' made me wonder about something
else, which might be a little off topic, but December, especially
pre-Christmas, is always in my mind a time of remembrance.

I ended up with this passion because of my father, and I wonder --
there are so many talented and knowledgeable people here, but how did
you all end up with this passion?  What was the event that triggered
this lifelong love?

Work will take me away again, so I wish everyone a very merry Christmas
and a beautiful 2010.
