[ Ref.: 091205 MMDigest, Extra-Long-Playing Jumbo Duo-Art Rolls

A few questions:  Obviously this is not the very late Duo-Art that uses
the Ampico B drawer (which would take huge rolls, and came later than
1928) so I presume that it is a more typical Duo Art action.  Yes? No?

I have a 1924 Duo-Art which cannot fit the 2-3/4-inch diameter
flange of the "extended play" complete "Rhapsody in Blue" (on one roll).
The flanges bind on the shelf that is beneath the roll (and above the
tracker bar).  Since it almost fits, it would only take a slight slot
cut in the shelf to allow for the 2-3/4-inch flange (not enough to
perforate).  All my other large rolls use 2-1/2-inch diameter flanges.

Does this extended play Duo-Art take flanges any larger than 2-3/4-inch?

Also, how is the problem of the roll stopping to tighten gotten around
in the extended play?  Was there something like the Ampico B, which
reduces tension as the roll plays, or does it rely on very carefully
regulated tension to prevent this?
