Roll-playing Theater Organs
By Julian Dyer

Seeing that nobody who knows more about it has written in, I thought
I ought to add the Wurlitzer at the Musical Museum in Brentford,
London, to the roll-playing theatre organ list. The roll player is
not original to this particular organ.

It's entertained us over the years with a few really nice popular
1920s rolls. Back in Frank Holland's time we had a meeting there when
there was the chance to try some other rolls, which we found rather
less interesting -- typical late-1920s non-pop stuff like you find on
78s. I've always wondered whether there was more of the pop material
that could be copied, although there can't be many collections of such
rolls to draw upon.
