I recently acquired a batch of Aeolian 58-note rolls that have very
curious long, slowly tapered leaders with unusual tabs.   They do
not bear the usual Aeolian Grand labels, but appear to be factory cut.
They play magnificently on a Style W Orchestrelle.  The orchestration
is wonderful.

The prior owner of the rolls, now deceased, put a great many expression
notations written in pencil throughout the duration of the roll,
indicating stops to activate and so forth.  It's all pipe organ stop
notation and not Aeolian Orchestrelle stop notation.  There are
references to Pedal, Swell, Great, etc.

Some of the various activations and deactivations of things mentioned
in articles in the MMD Archives are written on these rolls.  Could
anyone comment on this?

In the book by Louis Vierne it is stated that the 58-note Aeolian
player organ rolls also played on Aeolian's 2-manual and pedal player
pipe organs.  The rolls that I have are constructed with very special
leaders which I was informed were used for the Aeolian Concertola.

These rolls probably belong with a Concertola owner.
