Duo-Art Grand Piano Action is Feather Light
By Bruce Grimes

Regarding regulating Steinway Duo-Art actions, there is an idea
afoot that the elongated Steinway Duo-Art action is and must be
heavy and sluggish. This is _not_ so.

I have two long actions: one in a 7' 6" Steinway, and one in
a 9' 6" Steinway. The later piano was chosen by the well-known
concert pianist Antonio Iturrioz as his recording piano for his
movie tribute, "The Buddha of the Piano: Leopold Godowsky" (copies
available at http://www.theartofthelefthand.com/ ).

If for some reason your piano technician says your action cannot
be smooth and feather light, then you should contact David Snyder.
Look at his work at http://snyderspianoservice.com/ If you want
to see and touch one of his actions, then contact me at
