Photoplayer Census
By Cecil Dover

This is in response to Mike Roseboom's request for census data
of known photoplayer type instruments. About ten years ago, while
visiting a friend in Heidelberg, we visited the German Museum of
Mechanical Musical Instruments in nearby Bruchsal which houses the
Jan Brauers Collection. In the museum there is a special room set
up to show motion pictures, with musical accompaniment provided by
a small Wurlitzer photoplayer.

Knowing how rare photoplayers are today, I was very surprised to see
one in Germany. This may be one of the question-marked instruments
in Mike's list. I was equally surprised to see a Weber Maesto which
I recognized from seeing in a California collection. I wonder how many
more crossings it will see in it's lifetime?!
