[ Ref. 100428 MMDigest, Transposing Duo-Art Reproducing Pianos

Regarding Randolph Herr's description of the transposing system in
the Duo-Art, the units sold in Australia were definitely different.
I neglected to mention, in my earlier post, that the tracker bar does
not move at all in the Australian version.  Instead, two heavy brass
plates, each with 80 nipples, slide across each other at the rear of
the spool box, to transpose.  (Each plate resembles the rear of a
standard tracker bar,  the lower bar fixed).

Remembering that [the tracker bar holes for] 1-4 and 85-88 were not
plumbed into the rear transposer, but were plumbed into the pouch
blocks for Duo-Art "On" or Duo-Art "Off", means that they were free
to be used as notes or Duo-Art as required, regardless of where the
transposer was set.  The transposing amount was controlled by a notched
lever in left front of spool box and a cantilever arrangement attached
directly to the top rear plate.

I had forgotten these details.  The difficulty in this system occurs
when low bass or high treble notes are slightly out of sync when the
Duo-Art is set to "Off".
