Vacuuming the Player Piano Tracker Bar
By John A. Tuttle

Hi All, A well-operating tracker bar pump produces vacuum in excess
of 200 inches of water column. The best built-in home vacuum system
produces 120 inches of water vacuum. The standard home canister vacuum
cleaner produces less than 80 inches, and the standard upright produces
about 60 inches. When used correctly (see link below), nothing does a
better job at cleaning out paper dust from a tracker bar than a tracker
bar pump. I have proven this to hundreds (at least!) of player piano
owners.

Only one word of caution -- I do not recommend using a tracker bar pump
on any player piano with synthetic pouches. If they are the slightest
bit weak or failing, using the pump will destroy them.

Musically,
