Rebuilding Melville Clark Spring-motor Player

They are very well made player with a terrible valve design.  Change
the bottom seat to something other than leather and it will play very
easily.  They were high quality pianos.

Whatever you do, *do not take apart the round clutch assembly at the
top of the pedal push rods!*  You will be looking for tiny springs and
assorted bits and pawls until the end of time.  Don't even peek!
