Dvorak "Dalliance" on Ampico, ArtEcho & Welte
By Joshua Rapier

The reason the rolls have a different name, but are the same piece,
is that the roll labels list the title differently. I decided to list
the rolls as they were labeled and both recordings were put up for
comparison on my web site.

I went and pulled the rolls from the collection for a closer look.
The Ampico and Artecho rolls have different tempos. The Artecho is
played at Tempo 70, the Ampico at Tempo 95. Due to the different roll
step rate you can't just lay them on top of each other and see if they
are identical.

I looked in the Welte catalog; it says Marguerite Volavy also played
a piece that may be the same piece, with yet another title. It is
listed as: Welte 6914 Badinage, from "Poetical Impressions", Op. 85
No. 2 - Dvorak (recorded 12/1924).

If someone has this roll they might confirm that it is the same piece.
Artecho did use quite a few recordings from Welte in their catalog,
perhaps this is one of those.
