Scott Joplin's "Silver Swan Rag", a Lost Roll?
By Bob Loesch

Julian Dyer wrote in the 101008 MMD:

"There seems to be a particular problem with Hupfeld and other
hand-played 88-note rolls. Musicologists simply can't locate these
rolls, no matter where they look."

Julian's article makes me wonder about one particular "lost" roll, of
which I have a copy. It is Scott Joplin's "Silver Swan Rag," played by
the composer. I have read in other sources that the song was known,
but was never published in sheet music form, nor have any original
rolls been found. It must have been found at some time, because my
copy is an AMR recut, which I purchased when the company closed and I
bought out their remaining inventory.

Has anyone else seen an original of that roll? Has anyone seen sheet
music for it? I'm just curious.
