Splitting Open the Duo-Art Expression Box
By Pat DeWitt

Hi All, I want to report my success in splitting apart my Duo-Art
expression box. I used the Mel Septon/John Grant method and _it works_
like you would not believe!

I stripped the box of all loose parts and hardware and removed the
nine (count them twice) screws that hold the two halves together. Then
I froze the box for a couple of hours to make the glue more brittle,
put it on a piece of Berber carpet, placed a 3/4" X 3-1/2" yellow pine
block in the longest box compartment (opposite end from the two flap
valves) and gave it a whack with a 2-pound hammer on the end grain of
the wood block.

On the first hit a crack appeared around the perimeter of the box.
On the second hit the box literally came apart! It split very cleanly
with only a few small slivers of wood to be re-glued.

Thanks to all who responded to my posting last week.
